Glider Flight Information

Located at the foot of the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain range only a few miles from Lake Tahoe, Soar Minden is a popular tourist destination for visitors to California and Nevada alike. We offer glider rides with FAA-licensed Commercial Pilots and Instructors. These glider ride packages are available for one or two passengers. Our gliders are TRANSPONDER equipped.

Our most popular rides are:

  • Mile High Flight, for one or two passengers. You and your pilot will be towed above the Sierra Mountain ridge and enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe and the Carson Valley before releasing from tow approximately one mile above the Carson Valley floor. 35-40 minutes for one passenger $155, for two passengers $230; 55-60 minutes for one passenger $240 and $305 for two.
  • Emerald Bay Excursion, for one or two passengers, lasts 55-60 minutes. Our top of the line gliding experience takes you all the way across Lake Tahoe, around Emerald Bay and Fallen Leaf Lake, and back to a point high above the Sierra crest, where you will release and glide silently and effortlessly back over the Carson Valley. $295 for one; $435 for two.
  • Acrobatic Flight, for one passenger only, lasts up to 35-40 minutes. You and your aerobatic-rated pilot will release from tow over Genoa Peak at 10,000, and perform loops, wingovers and other high-performance maneuvers. $225 for one person.
  • Introductory Lesson for one person, lasts 35-40 minutes. You will fly with a certified flight instructor who will introduce you to the controls pilots use to manipulate the glider in flight. $180.

  • The Introductory Lesson Package is a unique, educational, introduction to our training program. You will receive ground instruction and one hour of flight instruction with 1-3 aero tows as needed. (Rides over the lake are one tow only). A complimentary logbook is also included. $280
